Interactive Education on Stunting Prevention and Management for Pregnant Women and Mothers of Children Under Five in Geuceu Komplek Village, Banda Raya District, Banda Aceh City

Background: Stunting is a chronic nutritional issue that can impact growth, development, and the quality of human resources. Prevention efforts must span from pregnancy through early childhood, focusing on enhancing family understanding of proper nutrition and health practices. Purpose: To provide interactive education on the prevention and management of stunting to pregnant women and mothers with children under five in Geuceu Komplek Village, Banda Raya District, Banda Aceh City. Methods: The activity was held at the Geuceu Komplek Village Office, lasting 60 minutes and involving 15 participants—comprising 10 pregnant women and 5 mothers with toddlers. Educational sessions were delivered interactively by three speakers who are lecturers from STIKes Sihat Beurata Banda Aceh. The material covered nutritional needs during pregnancy and child growth, prenatal check-ups, exclusive breastfeeding, complementary feeding, growth monitoring, infection prevention, sanitation, and the utilization of health services. The event also included discussions and a Q&A session to foster participant engagement. Results: All participants took part in the entire series of activities. They demonstrated active engagement during the presentation and discussion sessions, evidenced by a smooth question-and-answer exchange regarding the prevention and management of stunting. Conclucion: Interactive education on stunting can be effectively implemented, garnering active participation from pregnant women and mothers of children under five. Ongoing educational activities and measurable knowledge assessments are essential to support stunting prevention efforts at the community level.
